The second game was fun, don't get me wrong. Plus, I barely have any games downloaded onto it. Most of my friends don't seem to have this problem. Perhaps this is because I got the switch when it first came out, but idk. Just starting the game took around 2 minutes. It lagged when I was running at times, building, and the load screens were painful to sit through as well. But the second game lagged so much for me. The first game had better levels and better story, despite not having everything included from the second game, such as farming and more furniture options. I preferred the first game as opposed to the second for a few reasons. On the other hand I strongly suspect I'll never replay DQB2's plot, but there's a lot more reasons to keep ticking things off checklists and tinkering with things in the postgame. I replayed DQB1 a bunch of times but never got into building after the plot ended cause it's just a bit too limited. I loved the first game's campaign (i just liked the setting and game structure and it didn't overstay its welcome) more than the second game (it just drags in some places), BUT the first game does not compete at all with Minecraft as a building game (you can't really dig down and being indoors is awful), whereas DQB2 has made a load of steps towards being an ideal console Minecraft (much bigger, the scale of the buildings can be so much more impressive, can switch to FPS mode, NPC activities make it feel genuinely lively doing farming and building for you, sort of has multiplayer, and so on.)Įven though I was disappointed by the main campaign in 2 there's just so much more to do outside of that, and that in itself is a large part of the bit that was so good about 1.
